CoedNet is a new online directory set up by Llais y Goedwig, built to help facilitate the connection between local woodland enterprises and potential customers. It helps to promote sustainable, more resilient communities while supporting ethical, local Welsh businesses and community woodland groups.
We were instructed to build the Coed Net website with a strong emphasis on the sustainability of the products and services included in its directory. Initially, the products and services will be sold by community woodland groups that are Llais y Goedwig members, but the long-term vision of the company is to develop a platform that will be rolled out to a wider group, including local (small) businesses and sole traders.
The site needed to be value-led and highlight sustainable, ethical purchasing decisions in the hope of eventually forming a certification or standard for the products and services sold. The vision of the company is that with the help of the new website, community woodland groups will then take ownership of fulfilling orders, responding to feedback and maintaining their presence on the selling platform.
The scope of high-quality professional images to transform the look and feel of a website was really evident in this project.
The resulting bespoke website was designed in tune with the current branding of the parent company, Llais y Goedwig. Incorporated into the new site are an interactive directory and map function with built-in filters allowing for increased accessibility for users to navigate the site and discover new businesses.
Some of the key features included further accessibility functions in accordance with the latest WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards as well as providing bilingual capabilities throughout. An integrated member login function was added so that individual listings can be accessed and edited, with an image gallery included in each. The site also included MailChimp sign-up integration and a blog section, and our online CMS training equipped staff with the necessary skills to provide regular updates and news.
Coed Net were keen to have some sort of online presence whilst the website was being developed, so our team created and launched a holding page for the site to ensure the Coed Net domain was accessible with all the relevant contact details available to people interested in the project. Considering the diverse and comprehensive objectives outlined for the project, we conducted a meticulous fact-finding mission to ensure that all aims were fully understood and incorporated into the final product. Collaborating closely with Coed Net, with its input, we crafted a detailed plan of objectives and deliverables that paved the way for a streamlined project delivery.
