The Client

Anchor Guesthouse is a 9-bed boutique hotel overlooking the picturesque seafront of Broad Haven village in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It was acquired in 2022 by local businessman, Leonard Rees, and is home to its own dedicated Italian restaurant and pizzeria called Sunshine Italian.

The Brief

The new owners of Anchor Guesthouse wanted to put their footprint on the business by rebranding and redesigning the website to improve its online presence and increase direct bookings from both new and returning customers.

An additional aim was to increase its newsletter followers to serve as a platform for promoting the hotel’s stunning seaside location, the local area of Broad Haven, and its on-site “Sunshine Italian” restaurant.

High Quality Images

The scope of high-quality professional images to transform the look and feel of a website was really evident in this project.

The Solution

The initial stage of the process involved rebranding both Anchor Guesthouse and Sunshine Italian, creating a modernised and impactful brand identity. The final branding was then rolled out across the new site and the hotel’s Facebook and Instagram account, creating fresh, prominent branding across all communication channels.

From there, the website was designed and developed which contains a plethora of information about the hotel, restaurant, and the surrounding area of Broad Haven.

The site launched in March 2023, and was built with a concise user-experience focus, utilising effective navigation and interactive features like the live beach cam overlooking the hotel’s scenic views.

The Anchor Guesthouse website boasts a built-in image gallery, newsletter sign-up function, and an integrated third-party eCommerce booking system allowing for direct bookings, creating a new revenue stream for the business.

The site was also layered with prominent trust building features such as guest testimonials and calls to action throughout the site to help guide users to the booking page, encouraging sales in the process.

It also incorporates search bar, Instagram feed and enquiry form functions, with additional online CMS training provided to staff in order to consistently update the site with new images and information.

Other Challenges

One challenge that we faced with this project was that Anchor Guesthouse had an existing website, so it was essential to carry out initial on-site optimisation tasks such as setting up 301 redirects, transferring meta descriptions and optimising images. The purpose of this measure was to guarantee a seamless transition for the new website launch, without having any negative impact on the website’s search engine optimisation (SEO).
